VOCIER has won German Design Award: Gold
The German Design Award is Germany’s most prestigious Design Award, the highest Award Germany has on offer. VOCIER has won “Gold” 2016. A few years before us, the famous Porsche 911 sportscar has been awarded “silver”. So this is a meeting of Design icons, products that are both innovative as well as timeless.
At VOCIER, we always strive to create products that last, both aesthetically and functionally. When the Porsche 911 was released in the 60’s, its design was an immediate hit, timeless as well as functional. Similar to VOCIER, Porsche had a radically different concept of building a product: Porsche put the engine at the very back, thus providing advantages for acceleration as well as space for back seats, so the 911 to this date remains the only serious sports car that can seat four people. VOCIER too uses a radically different way of using space, with its unique and patented system of gently curving the suit around the interior of the bag.
Porsche has since had 60 years to perfect the 911, with each iteration of the product better than the last, but each car adhering to the general layout and design, thus creating a design icon. VOCIER intends to do the same with our luggage 38.
The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its goal: discovering, presenting and awarding unique design trends. Every year, top-quality submissions from product and communications design are awarded, all of which are in their own way ground-breaking in the international design landscape. The German Design Award is one of the best-known design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles.
The competition places the highest demands on the evaluation of its prize winners: the unique nomination process ensures that only those products and communication design achievements are invited to participate which stand out with proven design quality.
An international expert panel is exclusively engaged with all nominations. Here, intensive tests, checks and discussions take place before the announcement is made: And the Winner is… VOCIER!
